I'm a highly motivated teacher and scholar who constantly searches for ways to innovate my field. I thrive in spaces where structural change is built on assessment and empowerment of stakeholders, such as carrying out large-scale programmatic changes in writing centers or implementing equitable curricula and assessment models in writing programs. My interest in fair and "well" workplace practices have profoundly influenced my approach to writing program administration to be inclusive, anti-racist, and focused on the wellness of both workers and students. My scholarly program merges wellness and labor studies with organizational theory and rhetoric of health and medicine. Basically, I am always searching to make our institutions better/healthier for our students and our workers.
I am currently Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric and Director of the Writing Center at Middlebury College. I also lead first-year writing placement, conduct college-wide assessment, and manage an endowed writing prize and program. I have administered writing centers at several different institutions and have developed robust and award-winning programs. I have also consulted on writing centers, writing program assessment, and placement models at colleges and universities domestically (Ohio, Vermont, Massachusetts, Mississippi) and abroad (Japan, China, and Singapore). Whether in my administrative, pedagogical, or scholarly pursuits, I bring passion and a results-oriented approach to my work. |
